Best time to visit Hue
Hue has stronger seasons than its neighbours. Use this quick guide to plan your clients’ trips.
- Jan – Apr: Cool, dry and clear. The best time for the citadel and tombs.
- May – Aug: Hot and dry, with some very hot middays. Plan shade breaks.
- Sep – Nov: The wet season, with central Vietnam’s heaviest rain and some typhoon risk.
- Dec: Cool and still wet, slowly turning to the dry season.

Hue sits in the heart of central Vietnam. It pairs easily with the coast, the ancient town of Hoi An or the north.
Hue: questions from the trade
One to two nights is enough for the Imperial City, one or two royal tombs and a Perfume River cruise. Most agents add Hue as a stop on the way from the north to Da Nang and Hoi An, or as a day trip from Da Nang.
